Dr Yen Nee Tan
Associate Professor in Chemical Engineering and Advanced Materials Newcastle University (Singapore Campus)
Dr Tan is the Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at the Newcastle University, UK (Singapore campus). She earned her PhD degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and National University of Singapore. She has assumed several academic appointments and taken various responsibilities to serve in the scientific community. She is the Principal Investigator of Biosensors and Nanomaterials at the Newcastle Research and Innovation Institute (NewRIIS) and the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering, Agency of Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) in Singapore. She is currently a member of the Newcastle University in Singapore (NUIS) EDI committee. Her story as a female academic has been featured in the NUIS Women in Science and Engineering (WiSE) and the Straits Times (https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/singapore-now-has-more-women-scientists-engineers-with-phds). Dr. Tan is the ASEAN and Singapore-MIT Alliance (SMA) scholar, and the recipient of more than 15 prestigious scientific awards.
